The History of Blue Star Ferries
The vessels of Blue Star Ferries nowadays dominate the Greek seas. Founded in 1993, Blue Star Ferries is a maritime company based in Greece that offers ferry services, connecting the Greek mainland to numerous of the islands of the Aegean Sea. It is regarded as perhaps the biggest provider in Greece.
However, its long history dates back to 1965, when the company operated as “Strintzis Lines”, run by the Strintzis family. In 2000, Attica Enterprises bought 48% of the company. It was then renamed Blue Ferries. That year was a milestone for the company’s growth and development, leading to its today prominent position in the Greek ferry industry. Hence, in the present day, the multi-awarded Blue Star Ferries handles a wide majority of ferry routes from the mainland to the Greek islands and vice versa, being a subsidiary company of Attica Groups, along with ANEK Lines, Superfast Ferries, and Hellenic Seaways.
